Midlands 2 East League Match

Lutterworth   8pts:   v  Vipers  40pts

The Vipers applied a lot of the early pressure, but Lutterworth defended stoutly. This was broadly the pattern of the first half, and Lutterworth only managed 3-4 sorties into the opponent’s territory. The visitor’s 1st half pressure was rewarded with three penalties making the half time score 0-9.

Half time 0-9

The second half began the same as the first and Lutterworth’s defences were breached after five minutes when Vipers went over for a push over try following a 5 metre scrum, which was unconverted. This was followed by a further try following a 5-meter lineout, which was converted giving the visitors a healthy lead of 21-0. Lutterworth came back into the match with a good break out of defence by Robin eager, well supported by Phil Daffern, which resulted in a penalty which was converted by Eager. Unfortunately Vipers immediately replied by two further tries one of which was converted. Lutterworth then started applying some constant pressure, with good breaks and counter attacks from Daffern. This pressure was eventually rewarded when Bobbie Williams drew the opponents defence and off loaded to put Robin Eager over for a try which was unconverted. The half concluded as it started with the visitors scoring another try which was converted.

Final score:            8 – 40.
