Northampton BBOB 20pts  v  Lutterworth  13pts

Lutterworth started well applying all the early pressure but unfortunately could not turn it into points and a decision to take a scrum instead of a penalty in front of the posts typified their run of luck when they were penalised for feeding. The home side broke from deep in their own half to run the length of the park to score a try which, was duly converted. Soon afterwards there was another breakaway which, was thwarted by the visitors cover defence, only to have a penalty for handling in the ruck which the home side converted. Soon afterwards BBOB lost their prop when he was red carded for head butting an opponent.

Lutterworth started the second half strongly and were rewarded after 7 minutes with a penalty by Eager. Two minutes later the visitors moved the ball well which, resulted in Croucher going over for a well worked try which was converted by Eager. The next 20 minutes were pretty stagnant with both sides making silly mistakes, when after 30 minutes the home side were reduced to 13 men when their fly half was yellow carded for kicking in the lose ruck. Lutterworth punished this with a well taken penalty by Eager, and all looked set for them break their losing run. However, this proved not to be the case when both sides lost a player to yellow cards, followed 3 minutes later by another one lost by Lutterworth resulting in 13 v 12 for a short period. Lutterworth then conceded a penalty close to their posts which the home side taking advantage and drawing level at 13 all. Unfortunately for Lutterworth the home side used the open spaces to more affect and spread the ball wide to go over for a try in the dying minutes which, was converted rubbing salt into the visitors already open wounds.

Final score:            20 – 13.

Next saturday Lutterworth play host to Old Newtoniansin a must win encounter, kick-off 2.15pm
