League Game
Coalville 5pts v Lutterworth 41pts
Lutterworth Colts travelled to Coalville for what was their first game in three weeks due to the recent bad weather and they came away with a well deserved 41-5 win
Lutterworth dominated the first half scoring 4 unanswered tries through Robin Eager, James Cooke and two from Joe Sullivan. Best score of the half came as the Lutterworth forwards brilliantly drove Coalville from half way to deep into their own territory, before quick hands saw Dan Holmes move the ball out to Eager, who raced through to score in the corner. Despite the difficult windy condition’s, Eager was still able to convert his score to make it 22-0 at the half time whistle.
The one way traffic continued in the 2nd half and Joe Sullivan topped off a brilliant individual display with his hat trick score. Richard Bailey made a brilliant solo run from deep in his own half before passing out to Sullivan, who made a lovely run down the wing, dummying his way past the final defender and racing in to score behind the posts. Josh Czerpak and Aaron Dann added two more tries, with Eager kicking two conversions to make it 41-0 to Lutts. Just when it looked like the home side would remain scoreless they ran a quick tap penalty, which scrum half Joe Hansard forced his way through to make it 41-5 at the close.
Head Coach David Johnson said “after the frustration of the previous three weeks it was great to just play a game of rugby! We scored some lovely tries and despite the windy and muddy conditions our handling skills were excellent. This was great preparation for next weeks big cup game”.
Lutts travel to Syston for the Leicestershire Colts cup quarter final encounter next Saturday (kick off 2.15), the winners will earn a semi final trip to face Market Harborough.
