League Game

Lutterworth  55pts v Oadby Wyggs  7pts

Lutts end the season in style!

Lutterworth Colts welcomed Oadby Wyggs to Ashby Lane for the final league game of the season and recorded a well earned 55-7 win, to finally claim 3rd position in the Leicestershire Colts League.

Both defences dominated in the first 12 minutes before Lutts finally took the lead through a Robin Eager penalty. They extended the lead when an Eager kick was chased by Aaron Dann, who picked up and ran in to score. Dann was again involved for the next score as he caught the high ball and made some great ground before releasing Tom Goldsworthy, who made a lovely angled run to take the ball at speed and score in the corner. Eager converted both scores and then got a try of his own as the ball was moved quickly out to the wing and he popped over in the corner. Despite the score line, Oadby Wyggs had always been in the game and their efforts were rewarded when the ball was quickly moved along the line for Jack Boothbury to touch down. Will Clancey kicked the conversion to make it 22-7 at half time.

Lutts dominated the 2nd half scoring 5 tries through Luke Ball and two each from Warren Tebb and James Cooke. Try of the half came as the ball was moved through the hands of Dann, Cooke and Eager before be passed out to Ball, who raced in to score in the corner. Eager kicked 4 of the conversions to make it 55-7 at the close.

Head Coach David Johnson said “it was a brave display by Oadby Wyggs, the score didn’t really do their hard work and effort justice. We scored some lovely tries and it was a fitting end to close the season off with such a good, entertaining display”.

Next Saturday many of the Colts will feature in the annual Presidents game as the first team take on a Leicestershire invitational team (the kick off is at 3.00 PM at Ashby Lane)
