League Game
Lutterworth 9pts v Hinckley 22pts
Following last weeks Cup exit at Syston, Lutterworth Colts welcomed League leaders Hinckley to Ashby Lane. In a hard fought contest, Hinckley remained on course to be crowned champions with a 22-9 win.
Lutterworth kicked off with the wind at their backs but failed to fully capitalise on the advantage. They maximised their time in Hinckley territory with 3 well taken penalties through Robin Eager, but the visitors always looked the more likely to score and did so through full back Alex Morris and hooker Kyle Miller. Chris Cooke converted the second try to make it 12-9 in the visitors favour at half time.
Hinckley came out in the second half and used the conditions well but strong Lutterworth defence held them out until Blaine Bomin-Ward and Jordan Steptoe eventually crossed for a score each. Despite this disappointment Lutterworth showed some great spirit by not only holding out against this powerful Hinckley side but threatening to score some tries of there own but the visitors held out for a well earned 22-9 win.
Head Coach David Johnson said “well done to Hinckley who now look odds on to clinch the league title. The Lutts boys showed some great effort against Leicestershire’s form side although we were disappointed we missed out on at least one score that our effort and commitment deserved”.
Lutts travel to Vipers next Saturday (kick off 3.00).
