Lutterworth  45pts  v  Tamworth 12pts

Lutts Colts win in nine try encounter

Lutterworth Colts welcomed Tamworth to Ashby Lane on Saturday and ran out 45-12 winners

Lutts took an early two try lead through Simon Johnson and James Cook, with Luke Ball converting the second kick, before Alex Norchid pulled a score back for the visitors. The one way traffic resumed as Joe Sullivan and Zac Woollard crossed, with both tries being converted by Ball. Try of the half was the Woollard score as Johnson made a powerful run into Tamworth territory before releasing Luke Evans. He used all his strength to drive to the line before unselfishly putting Woollard through to dive over the line and make it 26-5 at half time.

Lutts maintained the pressure in the 2nd half scoring three more tries through Ethan Wright, Andrew Pridding and Sullivan with Ball converting two more of the scores. Try of this half was Sullivan’s second of the day as he cleverly kicked through the defensive line and won the chase to touch down. Despite being on the back foot through out most of the game, Tamworth never let their heads drop and fittingly they scored the last points of the day as Adam Shortehouse broke through to touch down, with Sam Goodridge converting to make the final score 45-12 to Lutterworth.

Head Coach Dave Johnson said “A bit of a scrappy game played in atrocious, muddy conditions but some well taken tries won the day for Lutts. Hats off to Tamworth who managed to keep going despite the one way traffic”.

Lutterworth Colts travel to Leicester Tigers training ground at Oval Park to meet Oadby Wyggs RFC next Saturday, for their 8th League fixture of the season (kick off 2.15 PM).
