COLTS TEAM Match Report

Bedworth 5pts V Lutterworth 31pts
Lutterworth Colts recovered from the previous weeks defeat at Hinckley, by registering an excellent 31-5 win away at Bedworth.
Lutts dominated the first half, but were disappointed when they came off only one score ahead. Try one came from winning line out ball on the Bedworth 22. Scrum half James Lloyd moved the ball quickly to Aaron Dann, who popped up a lovely ball for Luke Ball to take at speed, power through and touch down. Ball then converted his own try. 10 minutes in Ball attempted a difficult penalty kick close to touch, which narrowly missed. He then finished off a great score as the ball was moved through 5 sets of hands before he raced in down the wing, to score in the corner. Having dominated the half, Lutts let their guard down in the final few minutes and the Bedworth number 4 hacked on a loose ball, before touching down to make it 12-5 at half time.
Lutts came out determined to get the first score of the half and the pressure was rewarded as Nathan Welham finished off a training ground penalty move to power through and score his first try of the season. Ball successfully converted the kick. Another quick penalty tap led to try number 4 as the ball was moved from Ball to Dann, who passed onto Dan Holmes, who jinked his way through to score on his Colts debut. Bedworth had been reduced to 14 men as a player was carded after numerous infringements and foul play. Luke Ball then capped an outstanding individual performance as he scored a lovely hat trick, finishing off quick scrum ball in the corner. He then stepped up to convert the difficult kick and make it a deserved 31-5 win to Lutterworth at the close.
Coach Tony James commented “We dominated the game from start to finish and scored 5 lovely tries. The boys handled Bedworth’s provocative tactics really well and demonstrated some excellent self control, to eventually win the game convincingly”.
Lutterworth Colts welcome Market Bosworth to Ashby Lane next Saturday for their next league game (kick off 2.15 PM).
