League Match

Oadby Wyggs U17 0pts  v  Lutterworth U17: 51pts

Lutterworth clinch Championship!

Lutterworth travelled to Oval Park to meet Oadby Wyggs on Thursday night needing a win to clinch the Championship. They dually delivered with a comprehensive 51-0 win.

They dominated the first half scoring 4 unanswered tries through Connor Smith, Ashley Parrott and two from full back Luke Ball. Try of the half came as a lively Simon Johnson stole Wyggs ball before the ball was passed out from one wing to the other. Joe Sullivan received the ball on the wing, evaded a tackle and then put Smith in, who took the ball at speed before scoring between the posts. Ball successfully converted two kicks to give Lutts a 24-0 half time lead.

Lutterworth were finding the Leicester Tigers training pitch at Oval Park was totally suited to their fast running game and it was no surprise that they scored another 5 tries in the 2nd half. Ball scored another to complete his hat trick, while Smith scored a brace to get his own hat trick. Peter Rowe and Andrew Pridding completed the scoring, with Ball kicking one conversion. Score of the half came as Smith made a lovely run from deep in his own half, making great ground, before passing out to Ball who raced in down the wing to touch down in the corner, completing a 51-0 win for Lutts.

Head Coach Chris Everard said “It was fitting that the boy’s clinched the League at the home of Leicester Tigers training ground, on the best pitch in the County. It was a special atmosphere playing under lights, which added to a great night as the boys ran in 9 lovely tries. Well done Wyggs, who despite the score line put up a spirited performance, which deserved more that they got.

A big crowd is expected this weekend as Lutts play their final home League game of the season against Coalville (Sunday at home – kick off 11.00AM) and the latest League table is shown below.
