Under 17 Match Report

SUNDAY 14th October 2007

League Match

Lutterworth 29pts   V   Market Bosworth  7pts

Lutterworth march on!

Lutterworth under 17’s welcomed Market Bosworth to Ashby Lane on Sunday for their 4th game in the Under 17’s League. They continued their excellent start to the League season with a 29-7 win making it 4 wins from 4 starts.

Lutterworth set the tone for the day scoring after only 2 minutes through winger Andrew Pridding. He finished off a great passing move which saw the ball passed from one wing to the other, through six sets of hands, before Pridding burst through to touch down in the corner. Greg Littlewood converted the difficult kick from the touch line. Lutts continued to have most of the possession without breaking through again before Ashley Parrott finally scored the second. It was a typical try from the no 8 as he received quick ball and powered his way through and over the line. Littlewood again converted making it 14-0 at half time.

Lutterworth continued to press and it was from a 5 metre lineout that the 3rd score came. They won the ball and from the maul, drove Connor Smith over the line for a great team score. Smith was also involved in the next score as he chipped over the defensive line, won the chase and used all his strength to force his way over the line for his 2nd of the day. Despite the score line, Bosworth had continued to press and they were eventually rewarded with a lovely score from Matt Alder as he stepped in and out before scoring at the side of the posts. Blain Bonin-Ward successfully kicked the conversion. Lutterworth pushed for a final score and it came from a lovely box kick by scrum half James Lloyd, which was chased by Joe Sullivan. He won the race with the defender and dropped on the ball to seal a lovely 29-7 win for the home side.

Head Coach Chris Everard said “Another great all round performance. The forwards and backs were linking really well together today, leading to some lovely tries. This was an excellent win against a very strong Market Bosworth side, who have always made it difficult for us in the past”.

That result helped Lutterworth maintain their two points lead at the top of the League and their next League game is a visit to a powerful Melton Mowbray side, this coming Sunday (kick off 11.00 AM).
