League Match
Mkt Harborough U17 8pts v Lutterworth U17: 57pts
After the previous week’s postponement, Lutterworth under 17’s were back in action as the travelled to Market Harborough. The hosts were short of some key players through injury, so a number of under 16’s stepped up and it was always going to be a tough ask against the league leaders, as Lutts eventually ran out 57-8 winners.
Lutterworth dominated the first half running in 4 tries through Dan Holmes, Liam Healy, Connor Smith and Daniel Robson. Try three was the score of the half as Lutts started a lovely passing move from deep in their own half all the way to the try line as Smith finished off under the posts. Daniel Robson also scored a try on his Lutterworth debut as he reacted first to a loose ball to dive over the line. Luke Ball was on fire as he kicked all 4 conversions. Harborough rallied towards the end of the half scoring a drop goal though John Lee and a lovely try though Alex Bridges, which saw him finish off a nice passing move along the line, to score in the corner and make it 28-8 at half time.
The one way traffic was repeated as Lutterworth ran in another 5 tries through Smith (2 tries and completing his hat trick), Joe Seymour, Ball and Ash Parrott. Try of the half came as James Lloyd made a mazy run from his own half before releasing Will Keeling who made a jinking run towards the try line. The ball was passed to Holmes who put through Seymour to drop over the line and score. Ball converted another 2 kicks to make it 57-8 at the close.
Head Coach Chris Everard said “Well done to both sides who managed to make a game of it despite the wet and muddy conditions. Thank you to Harborough who although being short of some key players, still managed to put out a squad. When we moved the ball through hands we scored some brilliant tries, which was a joy to watch.”
That result helped Lutterworth maintain their unbeaten run in the League and kept them in top spot (Please see other results and league table below). Their next game is on Sunday as they host Oadby Wyggs (Kick off 11.00 AM at Lutterworth) in their final game before Christmas.
