League Match
Lutterworth U17: 57pts V Oadby Wyggs U17: 6pts
Lutterworth under 17’s travelled to Oval Park, home of the Leicester Tigers Training Ground, on Sunday for their 3rd game in the Under 17’s League against fellow residents Oadby Wyggs. In a game dominated by the visitors, Lutts ran out convincing 57-6 winners.
Lutterworth set the tone for the day scoring after only 3 minutes through James Cooke. This was quickly followed up with 4 more tries through Captain Dan Holmes, two from a lively Ashley Parrott and Greg Littlewood. Littlewood also converted 4 of the kicks. Score number 5 was the try of the half as a lovely switch between Holmes and Connor Smith led to a lovely run by Luke Ball, who shipped the ball onto Littlewood, for the winger to race in and touch down in the corner, for a lovely team try. Wyggs replied with two quick penalties from Luke Mohomed, who had a great kicking game all match, making it 33-6 at half time.
The one way traffic continued in the 2nd half as Lutts ran in 4 more scores through Parrott (for his hat trick!), two from Connor Smith and one from Joe Sullivan. Littlewood converted one, while James Cooke drop kicked the last on from close to the touch line! Try of this half came when Littlewood kicked over the defensive line from deep in is own half and won the race to catch the bouncing ball. He made a brilliant run and looked like he was going to score himself as he committed the final defender, before putting Joe Sullivan in, who was on his shoulder, for another lovely score.
Coach Mike Rowe said “Hats off to Oadby Wyggs, who despite the onslaught, never gave up and tackled their hearts out. The Lutterworth lads strung together some lovely scores on the back of some great passing skills. It was another very pleasing team performance”.
Lutterworth went two points clear at the top of the League with that result and their next League game is at home to Market Bosworth on Sunday (kick off 11.00 AM).
