Under 16 Match Report

Sunday 21st October 2007

Lutterworth 19pts  v  Market Harborough 21pts

Another very disappointing afternoon for Lutterworth. We started very promising with a try after 10 minutes through the hard working Bale, Elliot weaved his magic through the heart of Harborough’s defence to put the ball down, he then stepped up to convert the kick 7 – 0 to Lutts. Lutts then eased off and Josh Simpson from the visitors scored and converted to bring the scores level 7 – 7. The reply seemed to wake Lutterworth up and they began to take control Lutts were just short of the line on a couple of occasions and looked as if it wouldn’t be long in taking the lead. The lead came in the 20 minute after the maul was won Connor picked up the ball and barged through to score at the side of the post, Bale scored the conversion and Lutts took the lead to 14 – 7. Lutts extended their lead when Elliot Bale kicked the ball through and the Harborough’s fullback sliced his kick and Ellis picked up the ball and went over in the corner 19 – 7 Half Time.

That was the turning point from the start of the second half only one team wanted it and it was not Lutts. James Selson scored for the opponents and Simpson converted making the score 19 – 14. Then with four minutes to go Harborough brought the score level with Priestley scoring a try. Once again Simpson scored the conversion to win the game for Market Harborough 19-21

Coaches Comments:

" They wanted it more, as the game wore on we went to sleep and they were quicker to the ball. Our forwards went to sleep and our backs stopped passing. We need to get back on track and this starts on Wednesday at training. We need everyone at training and the numbers need to be high, with a squad of 40 we should show our commitment and respond "
