Paviors 12pts v Lutterworth 12pts
A very cold and windy day brought out a great game between two very competitive sides.
Lutterworth were first too show when they were awarded a penalty, Elliot Bale just sent his kick wide. Lutts continue to put pressure on their opponents and the outcome was a nasty clash when one of their players went through Elliot Bale when the ball had gone. In the mele that followed fist were thrown by both sides and Paviours no 6 was sin binned for ten minutes. When order was restored Elliot Bale had to go off to hospital and the rest of both squads were talked to by their respective coaches. Within two minutes of the incident Lutterworth took the lead. Chris Goodfellow caught a line out ball with a fantastic leap and catch the ball was passed back and it was spread across the line. fFnally Ben Stone who once again had a terrific game passed it on to Callum Johal and the speedy winger did the rest by sprinting down the wing to score in the corner 0 – 5. Lutts tails were up and they continued to push forward there was no more scoring but plenty of good play from the boys from Lutterworth. Stone, Dann, Sandford and Leeks all put big tackles in when needed and the forwards were overpowering their opposite pack.
When the second half started Callum Johal put in two massive hits on the line and after the second one Lutts gained control of the ball and it ended up with Joe Leeks who dummied twice and continued through to score a great try, with the conversion from Sandford the score was now 0 -12. Josh Williams held up a forward on the line with a great tackle. Paviours battled away and they reduced the arrears when Steve Chadwick went over in the corner and Doug Billam scored their conversion 7 – 12. with five minutes to go Paviours got their reward when again Chadwick scored another identical try again in the corner, this time Billam failed in the kick and the game ended up level at 12 – 12. Williams finished with another fantastic tackle as too did Ben Stone.
Coaches Comments:
"A very gutsy performance and we did mange to keep our discipline. We do however need to lift our fitness levels before we get to our final in a few weeks. But well played some great lines and plenty of big tackles. The forwards played well today and their rucking and scrummages look good"
