SYSTON SEVENS
|
Syston B U13 0 |
Lutterworth U13 55 |
For most of the Lutterworth boys this was their first taste of 7’s rugby and the relaxed atmosphere of the Syston 7’s was the ideal way to draw the season to a conclusion.
The game against Syston B was a somewhat one sided affair with the Syston team unable to cope with the pace and power of the newly crowned County Champions.
During the first half Lutterworth scored almost at will with tries from George Ball. Jimmy Gamble (2) Tom Bingley, Sam Webb and Ben Gledhill being added to a single drop goal conversion from Ollie Allen to give a half time score of Lutterworth 32 Syston B 0.
Lutterworth began the second half with all five replacements on the pitch but the course of the game remained unaltered and with further tries from Sam Webb, Declan Kiely, Mat Ringrose and Jamie Jameson and a further drop goal conversion being added by Sam Webb to give a final score of Syston B 0, Lutterworth 55.
GROUP GAME 1
|
Lutterworth U13 44 |
Oadby Wiggs U13 7 |
The Oadby side has dramatically changed since last season and in their first game had soundly beaten Syston B however they were no match for the Lutterworth boys who produced another convincing performance to top the group.
The first half tries were scored by Tom Bingley, George Ball (2) and Sam Webb to give a half time score of Lutterworth, 20, Oadby Wiggs 0.
The second half followed a similar pattern with further tries being added by George Ball (2), Ollie Allen and Declan Kiely with drop goal conversions from Jimmy Gamble and Nathan Hurr.
Oadby responded with a try of their own which was duly converted to give a final score of Lutterworth 44, Oadby Wiggs 7.
SEMI FINAL
|
Lutterworth U13 22 |
Syston U13 5 |
Lutterworth began the semi-final as they had played all the other games with tremendous pace and power leading to first half tries by Ben Gledhill. George Ball, Jamie Jameson and Ollie Allen with a conversion by Jimmy Gamble. Half time score Lutterworth 22, Syston 0.
Lutterworth again made wholesale changes and half time and Syston were able to stem the flow of points against them and also scored the only try of the second half to leave a final score of Lutterworth 22, Syston 5.
FINAL
|
Lutterworth U13 31 |
Hinckley U13 29 |
After having dominated the previous 7’s games today Lutterworth were stunned when Hinckley broke away to score the opening try of the final.
The Lutterworth boys soon resumed their composure however with tries from George Ball and Mat Ringrose (2) being added to by two conversions from Ollie Allen to give a half time score of Lutterworth 19, Hinckley 5.
Lutterworth began the second half in similar vein to the first keeping good possession but being unable to force a further score which would have undoubtedly sealed the victory and Hinckley seemed to grow in both confidence and determination scoring four tries, two of which were converted, to Lutterworth’s one try by George Ball converted by Ollie Allen to leave a score of Lutterworth 26 Hinckley 29 moving into the last two minutes of the game.
Lutterworth moved the ball to the Hinckley 5 metre line where they were held up, the referee giving a scrum to Hinckley with only seconds of the game remaining. The Hinckley scrum half was however penalised for feeding the scrum and from the resulting penalty Lutterworth moved the ball quickly along the backs to find George Ball in space to run in the winning try from the last play of the game to give a final score of Lutterworth 31, Hinckley 29.
After an extremely long day of 7’s Rugby the final was a credit to both teams with Lutterworth edging what was a most entertaining final.
