Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 14th October 2007

Lutterworth  34pts  v  Barker Butts  5pts

Lutterworth under 13’s welcomed Barker Butts to Ashby Lane on Sunday looking to continue their excellent start to the season.

The game was very closely contested especially in the early stages with Barker Butts providing probably the toughest physical challenge that the under 13’s have faced this season.  With Barker Butts pressing the ball well there was little space in the early stages for the backs and whilst Lutterworth dominated possession they were unable to create any scoring opportunity of note until midway through the first period when following a sustained period of pressure on the Barker Butts 5 metre line, Sam Webb broke through the defensive line and scored the first try which was duly converted by George Ball.

The second score came from a well planned set piece from a line out deep in Barker Butts territory with Ollie Allen prominent and off loading well to Sam Webb to score another try in the corner,

The final try of the half was a George Ball special picking up the ball on his own 22 and having evaded much of the Barker Buts side scoring under the post.

In the second half further tries were added by Rob Charlton driving over following good forward pressure with a further tries being added by James Gamble and Ollie Allen either side with consolation try for Barker Butts.

It was pleasing to see that the whole squad played a full part in this victory with Kieran Smith at scrum half and Tom Watson at prop making excellent contributions, Dan Woolley continuing to develop at second row and a promising debut from Tim Dann on the wing.
