BLACPOOL TOUR

Fleetwood  0pts  v  Lutterworth  71pts

On a bright and extremely fresh Lancashire morning and with more than a few aching heads from the previous day’s festivities the boys began the rugby playing part of the Blackpool Tour within a stones throw of the Cala Gran camp site at Fleetwood RFC.

Lutterworth kicked off with Elvis (aka Mike Gledhill) running touch.  A ploy which worked extremely well to distract the host club’s players who were unable to concentrate on their game with a star of Elvis’ magnitude in the vicinity.  Lutterworth were able to run up 34 points in the first half of the game with tries being scored by Sam Webb (3) Ollie Allen, George Ball and Ben Gledhill with James Gamble adding two conversions to give a half time score of Fleetwood 0 Lutterworth 34.

Lutterworth made wholesale changes at half time to ensure that all tourists played a full part on the days activities, however, despite the changes, the fluency of the team remained unaltered with a further 37 points being added in the second period with further tries being scored by Sam Webb, Ben Gledhill, Callum McDonald, Charlie Watts, Tim Dann and Tim Bingley (2).  A further conversion was added by James Gamble to give a final score of Fleetwood 0 Lutterworth 71.

Following the game Fleetwood kindly presented us with a match ball as a memento of our visit to their club whilst the festivities continued in the clubhouse well into the afternoon.
