Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 4th November 2007

Loughborough 0pts  v   Lutterworth  36pts

Lutterworth under 13’s travelled to Loughborough on Sunday anticipating one of the hardest games of the season and were dealt a blow prior to kick-off with Jamie Jameson unavailable due to a bout of sickness.

Lutterworth kicked off on a bright clear morning and the tempo for the game was set immediately from kick off with Loughborough failing to take the ball cleanly and knocking on allowing Lutterworth to set up camp on the Loughborough 22 . Whilst nothing came from the set play the tone of the morning had been set. The Lutterworth boys continued to dominate the early possession leading to the first try of the morning scored by George Ball after evading a number of tackles.  A further score was added by Lutterworth before half time when good forward pressure on the ball lead to James Gamble scoring under the posts.  Neither try was converted.

There then followed a good period of play for Loughborough when the ball was moved around several phases without Lutterworth being able to turn the ball over. Lutterworth’s defensive line however rarely looked like being breached and the sides ended the first half with Lutterworth deservedly leading by 10 points to Nil.

Lutterworth’s advantage was extended further directly from the kick-off as George Ball having collected a pass in his own half out-sprinted the Loughborough defensive line to score his second try of the morning . Loughborough’s resistance was all but ended when George Ball scored a further try directly from the re-start. Nathan Hurr added another try before George Ball rounded off another excellent performance both personally and by the team. Three of the four second half tries were converted two by James Gamble and one by Sam Webb to give a final score of Loughborough 0 Lutterworth 36 which did not flatter the visitors.

The duties of scrum half were shared between Charlie Watts and Dan Shevas both of who deserve special praise for the way they adapted to a somewhat unfamiliar role in great style.

Once again the whole squad played a full part in what was yet another excellent all round performance although man of the match for the second week running was undoubtedly Olli Allen whose energy appeared to be limitless.
