Under 13 Match Report

SUNDAY 2nd December 2007

Long Buckby  0pts   v    Lutterworth  49pts

As we moved into December the Lutterworth U13’s journeyed to Long Buckby following a re-arrangement of venue to be greeted by gusting winds and torrential rain.

The Lutterworth boys were however much stronger than the Long Buckby side who were missing a number of key players due to school commitments. Lutterworth having won the toss opted to play with then gusting wind in the first 25 minutes and were somewhat surprisingly penned back in their own half in what was an extremely scrappy first 5 or 6 minutes. The pressure was broken however with a long kick with the wind by James Gamble chased down by George Ball to score the first try of the day which was duly converted by James Gamble.

Further tries were added in the first half by Callum McDonald and Ollie Allen with one further conversion being added by Sam Webb. The halftime score was Long Buckby 0 Lutterworth 29.  This score was even more commendable as the Lutterworth boys had played the final 7 minutes of the half with only 14 players after a yellow card was shown to Sam Webb.

The second half continued in similar vein with two further tries being scored by Ollie Allen and a further two tries by Thomas David who has made an extremely encouraging return to the squad after a number of years playing football.  All the coaches are pleased that he has eventually seen the light!! In the gusting wind none of the second half conversion attempts were successful but Lutterworth ran out very comfortable winners with a final score of Long Buckby 0 Lutterworth 49.

We all expect that the boys will be in for a much sterner test with the visit of Market Harborough to Ashby Road on Sunday 9 December
