Melton Mowbray 10pts   v  Lutterworth 25pts

Lutts outstanding at Melton Mowbray.

On Thursday Lutterworth travelled to meet Melton Mowbray and finished the 15 man season with a superb 25-10 win, giving them both scalps from this years County Cup Finalists, Having beaten Hinckley last week.

The Melton forwards threatened throughout the first half but this superb Lutterworth side defended and tackled their hearts out. Lutts opened the scoring with a penalty kick from Will Keeling before the Melton inside centre, Jake Smith equalised with his own penalty. From the restart the Lutts forwards powered over to secure good ruck ball, which was quickly passed out to the blindside. Josh McLaurin made good ground before putting Gareth Clarke through to score the opening try in the corner. Keeling converted the difficult kick to make it 10-3 at half time.

Lutts continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded the try of the game. Keeling passed out to Bradly Milner, who took the ball at speed, before passing out to Clarke. Milner then took the return pass back inside and broke through the line to score a lovely try. A second Keeling penalty then made the score 18-3. Lutts no 8 Ashley Parrott then extended the lead even further, as he made it two scores in a week. He picked up loose ball 20 metres out and was unstoppable as he powered over the line. Keeling converted the kick. Melton scored a deserved consolation score as their winger Jordan Curtis sped through to score. The kick was converted by Smith, to make the final score 25-10 to Lutts.

Head Coach Chris Everard said  ‘a lovely finish to the 15 man season, the lads were awesome both in attack and defence. It was fitting to have beaten both County Cup finalists in the space of a week and to finish the season unbeaten by any Leicestershire team’

Lutts complete the regular season by competing in the prestigious Syston 7’s Tournament this Sunday, which is a competition they have won for twice in the last 3 years.
