Under 16 Match Report

SUNDAY 22nd April 2007

Coalville  0pts  v Lutterworth 55pts

Lutts cruise at Coalville in six try win.

On Sunday Lutterworth travelled to meet Coalville and scored six tries as they ran out 38-0 winners.

Lutts dominated the first half without coming off at half time with the score they deserved. The first score came through returning number 8 Ashley Parrott, having had a number of weeks out. He picked up 20 metres our before powering his way through, dragging 3 defenders along with him to score and remind us all what we’ve been missing. Will Keeling was successful with the kick. The second quickly followed as captain Matt Everard received the ball on half way and made one of his trademark runs to storm through and make it 12-0 at half time.

Lutts continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded with four more tries. A lovely bit of creativity set up the 3rd try as scrum half Sam Berrill made a reverse pass to Will Keeling who powered through and under the posts. Luke Ball converted the kick. Matt Everard’s 2nd came next as he powered his way through from 5 metres out, with Will Keeling converting the kick. Keeling looked set for scoring a second himself, as he made a lovely run before being held up by the defence. Hooker Joe Sullivan was quickly to his shoulder as he received the ball at speed and crashed through. Keeling again converted the kick. The try of the game was left to the last as Luke Ball ran the entire length of the field, jinking past half the Coalville team, to score in the corner. This lively winger had been threatening all game and it was fitting that his score brought proceedings to an end with the final score 38-0 to Lutts.

Head Coach Chris Everard said  ‘this was another clinical display, with six excellent tries. Once again it was great to see some of the squad players getting a longer run out and fully justifying their selection’

Lutts final ‘15 man’ game this season is at home to Melton Mowbray on Thursday night at 6.45 pm. The bar will be open, so please come on down for a great evenings sport.
