Under 16 Match Report
SUNDAY 17th December 2006
Wolverhampton 34pts v Lutterworth 7pts
Lutterworth under 16’s travelled to meet Wolverhampton for a hastily arranged fixture as both teams looked like having a matchless weekend. The visitors ran out an impressive 34-7 winners to extend their unbeaten run to 14 games.
In an excellent half of rugby Lutts scored 4 unanswered tries through Joe Burnham, Andrew Pridding and a brace from captain Matt Everard. Bradly Milner converted two of these scores. Try of the half came just before half time as the ball was moved quickly from the scrum and through five sets of hands before reaching Andrew Pridding. He skipped down the wing and dived into the corner to score a lovely try, just inside the corner post and finish off a great half of rugby from the winger. That made it 24-0 at half time.
Lutts took the opportunity to get all the replacements on for the second half and while they were finding their feet, Wolverhampton took full advantage. They came out the more committed and spent the first 10 minutes pressurising the Lutts line. This pressure was rewarded with a score when the ball was moved out to their winger to score in the corner. Lutts then began to take back control and try number five came through Bradly Milner after good work by Greg Littlewood. The final score came late on as lovely work by the Lutts forwards saw Ethan Wright pick up and muscled his way over the line, making the final score 34-7 to Lutterworth.
A Lutts spokesman said, “Another excellent result against a big, strong Wolverhampton side. Lutts played some lovely rugby, especially in the first half.”
Lutts final game before the festive season will be a match under floodlights when they travel to meet friends and rivals Hinckley on Wednesday 20th December at 6.30 pm, in a special Christmas challenge match.
