Under 16 Match Report

SUNDAY 17th  September 2006

Two wins for Lutts U16’s!

Lutterworth under 16’s travelled to Syston on Sunday for the first game of the season and registered two excellent wins, 13-5 and 21-0.

Game 1:

In a scrappy first half both teams took time to settle down before Lutts started to dictate play. They got the early score when quick scrum ball was switched between Dan Holmes, Gareth Clarke and back again before Holmes popped a lovely pass to Greg Littlewood. He raced through at speed to touch down a lovely score. Will Keeling converted the kick. The game was still a little messy as both teams shook off the summer cobwebs. They both had chances but the defences held out to make it 7-0 at half time.

Syston got the first break in the second half and a lovely mazy run led to a score at the side of the posts. The kick was missed. Both defences began to cancel each other out and Lutts had to be content with two penalty kicks to put the game out of the home sides reach. Will Keeling was successful with both kicks to make the final score 13-5 to Lutts.

Game 2:

Both these teams have such big squads that they were able to play a second game, to give everyone a run out. Lutts took full control scoring two unopposed tries in the fist half. Try one came as Ashley Parrott picked up and used all his strength to power through the Syston defence. Littlewood converted the kick. Try two came as Littlewood picked up the ball on half way. He made a lovely run to the wing before cutting in to break the defensive line and score by the post. James Cooke converted to make it 14-0 at half time.

Lutts continued the pressure, but it took the try of the day to seal the game in their favour. Joe Seymour picked up a lovely pass on his own 22 and then proceeded to run at speed down the wing. He evaded two tackles before racing in to score a lovely individual try, which he fittingly converted himself. That made the final score 21-0 to Lutterworth.
