Under 16 Match Report
SUNDAY 12th November 2006
Lutterworth 17pts v Long Buckby 0pts
Lutterworth under 16’s welcomed Warwickshire side, Long Buckby on Sunday and produced another excellent performance, to run out 17-0 winners.
Lutts, who were up against a powerful, full strength Long Buckby team, had to once again cope with 9 players away on Leicestershire County duty. It was a scrappy first 15 minutes, before Lutts took the game by the scruff of the neck. Scrum half James Lloyd sold a brilliant dummy as he made some good ground before passing out to hooker Joe Sullivan. He took the pass at speed and broke through a gap and then run in from the Buckby 22, to finish off a lovely score. Lutts continued to pile on the pressure as Jack Edwards attempted a difficult drop kick, which just drifted to the wrong side of the post, leaving it 5-0 at half time.
The home side continued to press and the 2nd try finally arrived in the shape of Tris Crawshaw. He broke through down the wing and cut in to score behind the posts. Jack Edwards successfully dropkicked the conversion. Another great team try soon followed as Lutts pressure caused Long Buckby fumbled the ball close to their line. James Cooke reacted quickest and shipped a lovely pass out to Joe Burnham, who dived over the line to make the final score 17-0 to Lutterworth.
A Lutts spokesman said “another excellent game from Lutterworth. The lads put together some lovely passages of play and worked hard for their three try win.”
Next week Lutts travel to meet Leicester Forest in the Quarter Final of the Leicestershire Plate (kick off 11.00 am).
