Lutterworth 17pts  v  Belgrave 0pts

Lutts show strength of squad in depth.

On Sunday Lutterworth welcomed Belgrave to Ashby Lane and faced them with a reduced strength team due to sending a squad of 15 to the Boston 10’s Tournament on the same day. Lutts showed the strength of this superb squad as they ran out 17-0 winners.

In a hard fought first half the two sides cancelled each other out and went in at 0-0.

The second half started with the Lutterworth forwards working better together and supporting each other in the loose therefore allowing the backs more ball than they had in the first half. The first score arrived after a rampaging 20m run towards the Belgrave line by hooker Miles Lowry through a mass of bodies which ended with Zac Willard being pushed over the line for a try on his debut match for the club. Greg Littlewood successfully kicked the conversion. 10 minutes later the ball was fed out to the backs on half way, Littlewood cut through the defensive line and evaded 3 more defenders before touching down in the corner. Try three came as the forwards were again working well as a pack and they supplied the backs with clean ball. Quick passing along the line resulted in Liam Healey touching down in the corner.

Coach Mike Rowe said  'what a good performance from both sides and considering Lutts were missing half the squad, our commitment was fantastic. The tackles put in by the whole team were of the highest quality and Belgrave did not look as if they would ever score, which gave us the base to go on and win the game’.
