Under 16 Match Report
SUNDAY 11th February 2007
Leicester Forest 0pts v Lutterworth 51pts
Lutterworth under 16’s travelled to Leicester Forest on Sunday and despite the muddy conditions came away with a stunning 51-0 win.
Once the two teams adjusted to the conditions it was Lutterworth who totally dominated the half. Six unanswered tries to nil saw Lutts run in 29-0 at half time. Scrum half James Lloyd scored a lovely hat trick as he dictated play well, capping off a great half by converting two of the kicks. Captain Matt Everard also scored a try either side of those 3 scores. The score of the half came after a great run by Lloyd, who was pulled down 20 metres out. The pack picked up and powerfully drove the ball towards the line but was stopped short. Lloyd was again on hand to pick up and drill through the defence to touch down on the line and finish off a great score.
Leicester Forest came out and frustrated Lutts in the second half holding out for the first 10 minutes before the floodgates opened again. Four tries coming from Ethan Wright, a lively Luke Ball and Bradly Milner were preceded by the try of the half from Everard. He scored his hat trick try after receiving a quick tap penalty on half way and then out running the entire back line, handing off three desperate defenders to score in the corner. Milner converted one of the kicks to make it 51-0 at the close.
Head Coach Chris Everard said ”We saw some great rugby and lovely hands from Lutts, despite the awful conditions. It was good to see all there hard work rewarded with some quality scores”
Lutterworth travel to meet Coventry side, Broadstreet next Sunday with the kick off at 11.00 AM.
This young Lutterworth squad also received some fantastic news as it was announced that lock Josh McLaurin had been selected for the final England trial to be held at Castlecroft, Wolverhampton next week. Also captain and no 8 Matt Everard received the brilliant news that he is to be offered a contract in the Leicester Tigers Academy next season. Good luck and well done both lads, you’ve made the entire club extremely proud.
