Under 15 Match Report

SUNDAY 22nd April  2007

Lutterworth 12pts  V  Coalville  10pts

Great performance from Lutterworth

A sunny day with a hard ground was not the ideal conditions to play against one of the bigger sides we meet this season, but Lutterworth played out of their skins to claim the scalps of Coalville RFC.

George Hargreaves put in a tremendous tackle to stop Coalville taking the lead, he sent the winger way over the line with a thumping tackle. It was Coalville who took the lead on twenty minutes however and it was a sickening blow to the Lutterworth forwards who gave their all against a strong wind. Coalville put a lot of pressure on the Lutterworth pack. Ben Morris scored just to the right of the posts and Ben Achurch converted making the score 0 – 7.  Lutterworth woke up and decided enough was enough; they started to put Coalville deep into their own half. Joshua Williams having another stormer produced another great tackle and he winded the Coalville centre. Lutterworth managed to get a try just before half time to reduce the arrears it was Harry Goldsworthy who scored in the corner after great work and a superb move right across the park, Half Time 5 – 7.

Lutterworth started well in the second half and the 22 players looked to be enjoying their days work. Chan won lots of ball and Hargreaves took charge in the middle of the park. Although Lutterworth were playing the better rugby, Coalville always looked as if they could score, the game was very close and you always thought the next team to score would be the victors - and it was  Hooker George Hargreaves who scored, The forwards won the lineout and great play put Coalville on their 22, Coalville had the ball, but it was a great steal from Chan who let Hargreaves loose and the hooker scored.  Luke Sandford produced a great kick to give Lutterworth a 12 – 7 advantage. Coalville did not let their heads drop and they continued to battle sometimes a little to enthusiastic and this lead to one of their team getting a yellow card after one or two off the ball incidents. With time running out it was Coalville who were on top and when the final whistle did go Lutterworth were only 5 yards from their own try line.

Man of the Match:     Alex Chan and Harry Goldsworthy

Coaches Comments:   "This was a great performance. We showed lots of knowledge of when to pass the ball, we protected our own and we scrummaged very well. Take a lot of pride and enjoy your day, well done to all of you."
