Under 15 Match Report

SUNDAY 21st January  2007

Lutterworth 19pts  V  Paviors  34pts

Poor showing from Lutterworth.

A very cold and windy day saw Lutterworth RFC get off to a flying start. We were 5-0 up at five minutes when Joe Leeks ran through and slipped a pass to Ewan Grunwald who crossed the line in the corner, the conversion kick just missed.  Within  two minutes Lutts scored another try and once again it was Grunwald who scored.   This time Thacker switched with Leeks and the latter passed to Grunwald, Ewan could not get to it with his hands and kicked it forward then ran on to it to score once again in the same spot. The conversion was scored with a great kick from Bruce, making the score 12 – 0. Jamie Steventon was unlucky not to get through when he took on the entire back row, it was only a flick of the ankles which made him lose his feet that eventually stopped him.

The score was increased by Lutterworth when Chan passed to the skipper Dan Thacker, Dan crossed the line under the posts, Bruce easily converted making the score 19 – 0. From this moment the game changed and the Paviours side settled down and started to put Lutterworth under the cosh. Paviours scored from a slack move from Lutterworth, the ball was intercepted and the winger Jones ran through to score under the posts and Billum scored the conversion on the stroke of half time 19 – 7.

Within five minutes of the restart Paviours reduced the arrears yet again, this time a well timed run from Billum scored in the corner, no conversion and the score was 19 – 12. It could have been worse for Lutterworth when the winger Jones was clean through with only Bradley Pell to beat. The ever so Mr reliable produced another one of his terrific tackles to stop Jones in his tracks. Paviours did not have long to wait before they scored yet again Billum again scored for the opposition and Wilson got the conversion 19 – 19. Paviours now were dominant and Lutterworth’s pack looked down and out, their body language did not look good and it was not long before Paviours hammered three more tries to their total. They did not convert any of them and the final score was 19 – 34 to Paviours. Lutterworth squandered a 17 point lead and needless to say the coaches were not very happy.

Coaches Comments:

"Today we did not listen to what we were told before the game, Tackles must be made low down, we went for the ball and not the man on numerous occasions. It did not happen today, Head Coach Thacker said he was not upset at losing, but he was upset of the attitude of certain players who just did not seem to care "
