Under 15 Match Report
SUNDAY 11th March 2007
Aylestone St James 15pts v Lutterworth 12pts
Lutterworth started brightly but did not manage to get on the score sheet. Aylestone St James looked the bigger pack and took advantage after ten minutes, Paddy Radley made a great tackle and it looked as if Lutterworth might breakaway, but the ball was picked up by Jimmy’s centre Devon and he scored underneath the post’s. With the conversion Jimmy’s led 7 – 0.
Lutterworth woke up and started to show the Jimmy’s what they were made of. Unfortunately they could not score points and were punished even more, a penalty was awarded against them and Will scored for the opposition to make the score 10 – 0. Lutterworth did not let their heads drop and once again they were unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Joshua Williams showed great endeavour with tackle after tackle, so did Bradley Pell and Alex Dann. Again though Aylestone St James went further in front, a ruck was won and their centre ran through and put the ball in the corner for a try just on the half time whistle, 15 – 0.
A couple of changes at half time and Lutterworth showed they could match Jimmy’s for strength, within two minutes of the restart Joshua Connor reduced the arrears. McDougall got the ball and layed it off to Hendy, Jack let Connor in and he scored in the corner 15 - 5. Lutterworth were fired up and it was not long before the arrears were further reduced Connor won the line out and he set up Pell, Bradley let Grunwald loose and he flew past their defence running 80 metres to put the ball right under the post. Bradley Pell converted and the score was now 15 – 12. Lutterworth were now the better team. Rayner and Hendy both had good games as to did Dominic Hurr. More replacements were made and Lutterworth were now dominating the game. Time and time again the referee continued to give penalties against Lutterworth so there was nothing we could do, coach Walters was disgusted and asked why, but he got no reply from the man in Pink. The whistle came and Jimmy’s got the result they wanted, a disappointing defeat for Lutts.
Coaches Comments: "We made a few mistakes but we kept your heads up and were unlucky to come away empty handed."
Man of the Match: Bradley Pell and Alex Dann, Matt Glover for the forwards.
