Under 15 Match Report
SUNDAY 4th February 2007
COUNTY CUP - Semi Final
Lutterworth 6pts V Coalville 0pts
Well where should I start? A very sunny but frosty morning was not the best conditions and it was not helped when the Mini section were playing on the 1st team pitch so this Semi Final had to be put back to 11:45 am. Off we went and it was nip and tuck for the first 15 minutes, neither team managed to get the better of the other one but it was Lutterworth who just shaded the first half with the more possession. Coalville though were just thwarted when Joe Leeks put in a brilliant tackle when the winger nearly broke away, Joe took the winger in to touch and Lutts survived. Lutterworth were now pressing and managed to get on the edge of the 22 and then they were awarded a penalty. It was leading point’s scorer Bruce who stepped up to maintain his composure to slot the ball home and give the Lutts a lead 3 – 0. Just before the break Lutts were awarded another Penalty, but unfortunately the kick just went wide and at half time the score remained 3 - 0 to Lutterworth RFC.
The second half was just as close as the first both teams played with pride and lots of passion, Coolville’s bigger pack though were limited to a kicking game as they tried to get in Lutterworths half, Lutterworth had a few great runs both were stopped by big tackles for Coalville. Alex Chan who got out of a sick bed to play was immense as to were the forwards who were led by Connor with a great performance. Hargreaves and Ingham were solid and the backs tried to breakthrough time and time again. Lutterworth’s team spirit carried them in to the final and all credit to the coaching staff, the entire team kept their discipline and the lines held firm. Coalville to their credit kept plugging away and it was not until the 65 minute was there anymore points added. Another penalty to Lutterworth and Bruce once again scored and this left Coalville needing to score and convert to get back into the match. The large crowd were kept on their toes when the game went from one end to the other Lutterworth held their nerve and managed in the last five minutes to keep Coalville pegged on their own 22 line. In fact Lutterworth ended the stronger and this exciting game ended 6 – 0 to Lutterworth RFC.
