Under 14 Match Report
SUNDAY 1st October 2006
Burton 31pts V Lutterworth 5pts
Lutterworth
kicked off against a very strong wind and soon Burton were putting them under
pressure getting good ball out to their backs with good forward play to retain
possesion. It was from an overlap on the right flank that led to their
opening try in the corner. With the very strong wind against them Lutterworth
were finding it very hard to clear from their own half and 3 further Burton
tries in the first half gave the home side a comfortably 31-0 half time lead.
Half Time Burton 31 Lutterworth 0
Burton kicked off the second half now playing into an even stronger
wind (soon to include rain as well) and now it was Lutterworths turn to
put the pressure onto Burton who were now finding it difficult to clear
the ball and darting breaks by Sam Huckerby and Sam Weatherall lead to
scrumhalf Beau Green diving over in the corner for Lutterworths first
try. Uldis Krievs missed the conversion from wide.
Further breaks by
Leo Sollit, Chris Gutteridge and Simon Sandercock were kept out by some
determined Burton defence and when the rain came handling was made extrememly
difficult and despite playing the majority of the second half in the Burton
half of the pitch Lutterworth could not manage any further tries and Burton
ran out comfortable winners
