Ladies Match Report
Sunday 26th November 2006
League Fixture
Lutterworth Ladies : 7pts v Cheltenham Ladies: 47pts v
Lutterworth played the best as a team on Sunday than they have in a long time, down to a new coaching structure and team morale. The forward contribution was immense. They again dominated most of the scrums as the forwards worked exceptionally well together. The forwards and backs links were better than they ever had made before, and vice versa.
Lutterworth were out beaten by a very strong team in the first half of the game but in the second half they came out with their heads held high to show the opposition what they were worth. They stuck close together to prevent the opposition from scoring and they won 7 points for their efforts. To get a try against the side that sits at the top of the league created a great feeling around the team
There was some great performances by backs man of the match Zoe Smith who made some cracking kicks to move the girls forward and kicked the ball straight through the middle of the posts to secure a conversion for the team after their try.
Forward of the match was prop Natalie McLeavy. She made some fantastic breaks and sidesteps which created options for the team
Emma Sewell made some great tackles against a very fast opposition and Laura Ogden took Cheltenham by surprise when she flew past them to score the try for the team.
As the year moves on supporters are beginning to see the potential of the girls and with a few more developments the path they all walk along appears to become rosier and rosier.
