Under 14 Match Report

SUNDAY 26th March 2006

Lutterworth  33pts V  Earlsdon  15pts

                                         A Tale of two halves.

Lutterworth were slow out of the blocks today and they were punished after three minutes when a deserved try was scored in the corner after constant pressure by Earlsdon, the try was not converted 0 – 5.

The opponents continued to press home their early lead and if it wasn’t for Jaycee making a wonderful tackle their winger would have been clear. Jaycee again made another great tackle but this only prolonged another score. The second try was scored after a move by Lutterworth broke down and the Earsldon centre picked up a loose ball and kicked it down field with the wind, he followed it down field and beat the Lutts defence to the ball to score, again the conversion was missed but the score was now 0 – 10. Lutterworth were struggling against the strong wind and they rarely got in to the opponents 22. Earlesdon scored again in the last minute of the half, Lutterworth lost the scrum and the Earlsdon pack drove on to score in the corner. The conversion was missed and the half time score was 0 – 15.

Lutterworth made replacements and a score was not long in coming. Lutterworth won a scrum against the head and Leeks gathered the ball and weaved his magic to score directly between the post’s, Radley converted to make the score 7 – 15. Skipper Hargreaves showed why he plays for the county when he smashed his way through the heart of the Earlsdon pack, he fainted a pass and was left clear to run 50 metres to score. The conversion was missed 12 – 15. Lutterworth were now on a high and it wasn’t long before they took the lead. Barny the (Police woman) Barker scored when Bruce did a switch with Padbury he received the ball back, Bruce then passed to Leeks then Joe released Barney who ran through to score, it was a well worked try and with the conversion by Bruce the score was now 19 – 15. The game was one sided now so the coaches made more changes to give other squad members a chance. Lutterworth were still dominating the game and Leeks scored his second try of the game. Joe picked up a pass and side stepped a tackle to cross the line and put the ball again between the post’s, Ryan Bruce converted 26 – 15. Johnny Faire was very influential today he was very decisive and looked very focussed. In the last play of the day Lutterworth scored again this time it was after absorbing two or three minutes of pressure. Ryan Bruce scored after being released by Hargreaves, he also scored the conversion making the final score 33 – 15.
