Under 14 Match Report
SUNDAY 20th November 2005
Aylestone St James 0pts V Lutterworth 34pts
Pitch Conditions: Soft
Weather: Cold/Sunny
A win but not tested.
Another win for Lutterworth but this was more like a training session than a competitive match Within two minutes Lutterworth were 0 – 7 in front. Ben stone playing at the start at centre got the ball after the maul was moved to the backs, Ben got the ball and placed the ball at the foot of the post. Ryan Bruce scored from the conversion, Lutts never looked back. Our opponents were having one or two injury problems and never seemed to get going. After ten minutes Alex Vostanis scored when he dived at a loose ball, Ryan Bruce again converted and the score was a healthy 0 – 14. The play was a little scrappy and there was a lot of handling errors, but Lutterworth were camped in Aylestone’s half of the pitch throughout the first half. Just before half time Joe Leeks got possession of the ball a good 40 metres from the line and his blistering pace and two hand offs saw him score a great try making the score 0 – 19 at half time. George Lane was having a good game at hooker and as the game went on the stronger he looked.
With the slight slope in the second half Lutterworth just maintained the pressure and added to their score when Chan got the ball and moved it along to Thacker, the latter moved it to Barker and he touched down in the corner, 0 – 24. The next try was the best of the match Barker got the ball and raced away. He was just about to be tackled when he passed to Bradley Pell, Bradley held it up well and finally passed it on to Thacker. Dan touched down and the score was 0 – 29. The final try of the day was claimed by two players so it would be unfair to give it to either player. Both Hargreaves and Ingham claimed the try and both had a hand on the ball as the ball was touched down so both lads take credit making the final score 0 – 34 to Lutterworth.
Coaches Man of the Match: George Lane, a strong performance.
