Right from the off the pack of Lutterworth dominated this game Kibworth had not managed to get out of their own half when Barnaby Barker scored his and Lutterworth’s first try. It was a great try when the move was started by Dan Thacker and included 6 players running right across the line to finish with Barker touching down in the corner. 5 – 0. Barker scored again within five minutes this time Ryan Bruce started the move and once again it went over in the corner this time Barnaby made it look easy with a very strong run. Ryan converted and the score was 12 – 0. The try seemed to wake Kibworth up and they started to fight back, they kept Lutterworth pinned back on their 22 for the last five minutes of the half. Just on the stroke of half time Kibworth reduced the arrears when their pressure and taller / heavier looking pack forced Lutterworth to concede a try right at the death, the try was scored by Lewis Dyke.12 – 5 half time.
Barker nearly scored again but this time play was brought back for an infringement. It wasn’t long though that Lutterworth increased their lead and this time it was Joseph Leeks that scored a mazy run and quick switch of direction fooled the Kibworth defence Joseph touched down under the post. Ryan again converted and Lutterworth were now romping away with the tie 19 – 5. Leeks was now getting the habit of scoring and he touched down almost immediately. This time he ran about 40 yards and left Kibworth’s pack for dead touching down in the corner 24 – 5. Another Lutterworth try was not long in coming and this time it was Ben Stone who pressed home the advantage scoring his first try of the game after a great run through their defence. Skipper Thacker who was having a great game decided he would like to get on the score sheet and held off three challenges to touch down over the line making the score 34 – 5. The final and cheekiest of tries was again scored by Thacker this time Kibworth were trying to clear their lines when Thacker intercepted the ball right under the post to have the simplest of tries. Making the score 41 – 5 to Lutterworth RFC.
