Under 14 Match Report
SUNDAY 2nd April 2006
Harbury 5pts v Lutterworth 43pts
Lutterworth Demolish Harbury RFC
Lutterworth again produced a very good performance with the majority of players bringing their boot’s and some of their players borrowing others boot’s. (Jamie I can play in bare feet Steventon).
Ingham didn’t care if he had boots or not he broke of the back of the maul, picked the ball up and scored in the corner making the score 0 – 5 after one minute. Ben Stone seemed up for the game with one or two good tackles and he also won the ball and set up Hurr who was unlucky not to get through being put in to touch with only one man to get past . Dominic had a lot of ball today and after an initial couple of fumbles settled down to play well. Lutterworth scored again when Leeks intercepted the ball and ran through their defence to put the ball between the post’s with Bruce converting the score went too 0 – 12. Josh Williams was proving to be a nuisance in the nicest possible way to the Harbury pack; he was tackling well and diving on a lot of loose balls to give us the initiative. Bradley Pell had a good game so too did Jack Lewis; he seemed to have the bit between the teeth. Another great scrum was won by the Lutterworth pack and this time Bruce passed to Leeks, then on to Stone who scored right on half time to make the score 0 – 17 at half time.
Heavy scrummaging continued through the second half, causing a blood injury to Goodfellow. From one of these scrummaging situations Barker won the ball and started for the Harbury touch line, only to be stopped at the last moment by some good Harbury defence. Harbury cleared their line only to become yet again engaged into a scrummaging situation where yet again Barker was passed the ball, and with some direct running scored under the up rights. Bruce converted, taking the score to a deserved 24 – 0.
Harbury restarted the game and within minutes after constant pressure against Lutterworth, their Scrum Half Nichols scored. A well deserved try after all the pressure that Harbury had been exerting. Restarting the game, play went Lutterworths way with Bruce setting for Connor to pick it up then scored in the corner, however the conversion was missed mainly due to the cross wind which had had its influence throughout the match. The game continued in much the same way with a try from Ingham, who received an excellent pass from Pell, with Bruce converting this made the score 36 – 5.
The game continued to ebb and flow until Hargreaves intercepted a pass and went on to score a try with nonchalance under the posts, leaving Bruce with a simple conversion between the posts. The score ended up 43 – 5.An excellent result under the windy conditions.
Coaches Man of the Match – Jack Lewis great tackling.
Coach’s comments – " Good rucking & we moved the ball well, but we need to move it more, with a lot more communication"
