Under 13 Match Report
SUNDAY 6th November 2005
Lutterworth 12pts V Melton 7pts
On another
windy rainy morning Lutterworth won the toss and elected to play into
the considerable wind. Jack Tranter kick off for Lutterworth which was
well taken by Melton and when their forwards carried the ball up to the
half way line and set up a maul from which the ball was passed out for
the Melton winger to score in the corner. it looked like it was going to
be a long half, Melton converted the try to take a early 7-0 lead.
However Lutterworths forwards and backs took the game to Melton and
great work from Harry Gregory, Jarrad Carer and Sam Huckerby kept Melton
at bay and after a first half played mainly deep in the Lutterworth half
Lutterworth were still only 7-0 down.
Half Time Lutterworth 0 Melton 7
From the Melton kick off and with the considerable wind behind them it
was Lutterworths turn to put Melton under pressure. Good mauling from
the forwards enabled Lutterworth to get the ball to their backs and when
winger Josh Shevas was stopped on the Melton 22 from the maul Sam
Huckerby broke away to score, Jack Tranter converted to level the
scores. Now the Lutterworth forwards were enjoying playing in the
oppositions half and eventually the pressure had to tell and again Sam
Huckerby broke this time from a rolling maul to give Lutterworth the
lead. Jack Tranter missed the conversion from wide. Lutterworth kept the
pressure on Meltons defence but could not break through again and ran
out winners by 12 points to 7.
