Under 13 Match Report
SUNDAY 4th December 2005
Old Northamptonians 33pts v Lutterworth 0pts
On a bright
chilly morning it was Old Northamptonians who kicked of playing down the
slope. The ball was taken by Lutterworth but from the maul the ball was won
by Old Northamptonians and they pressed forward. The pressure was kept deep
inside the Lutterworth 22 and from a set scrum the Old Northamptonians cut
through the Lutterworth defence to open the score and, with the successful
conversion, took an early 7-0 lead. Lutterworth continued to struggle to get
out of their half despite excellent defensive work from the backs and
forwards. With half time approaching from a set scrum on their own 22 yard
line Lutterworth moved the ball wide and tried to break down the wing,
however from the ensuing maul Old Northamptonians turned the ball over and
swept across their backs to score on the opposite wing. Another conversion
giving Old Northamptonians a convincing 14-0 half time lead.

Lutterworth kicked off the second half with the slope knowing that they
had to score early to get back into the game. From the kick Old Northamptonians moved the ball back to the half way line where for a good 10
mins the ball was kept in the middle of the pitch with both sides attempting
to move the ball wide to gain an advantage. Excellent breaks by Sam Weatherall, Jarrad Carter and Jamieson Hodges were cleared and when Old
Northamptonians did get deep into Lutterworths 22 they moved the ball
effectively and the backs broke over to score again. Lutterworth realised it
was a big task to come back now and made a number of changes to try and get
back into the game, however Old Northamptonians were starting to play with more
confidence and with time running out ran in two more tries for a convincing
win.
