LADIES TEAM Match Report
Midlands Division 1
Sunday 25th September 2005
Lutterworth WRFC 19pts V Olney Ladies 24pts
Lutterworth started their first league match strong & positive, with both backs and forwards showing experience in all areas. Tackles appeared committed & powerful, scrums dominating Olneys pack. Lutts no5 Louise Smith (Tink) won line out ball and stole most of the oppositions ball. This gave an excellent base for Lutts backs to move the ball forward enabling Lutt to stay in Olneys half for the first half of the game. A blow came to Lutts when a yellow card was given to the key jumper during a scuffle in the line out. Olney scored two tries during the first half with some lucky play. Lutts No9 intercepted Olneys ball and scored a needed run away try. Lutt looked like the game was theirs.
Olney game back fighting in the second half and a well worked move saw Lutt miss tackles and Olney lead the game. Lutt finally woke up with 20 mins to go. Olney suffered with various injuries which interrupted the game- this gave Olneys coach time to come onto the pitch and coach! For the last 20 mins Lutts forward proceeded to dominate the scrums, the backs remained determined and consistent by this time it was too late and Olney won the game 24 points to 19.
