2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 26th November 2005
Lutterworth 2nd XV: 0pts v Loughborough 2nd XV: 14pts
Lutterworth turned out with only fourteen players to start the game against a younger faster Loughborough side.
Lutterworth attacked hard taking the ball on well and driving deep into the Loughborough half constantly and then after dubious calls from the referee for an alleged infringement, Loughborough were able to get back down field.
The Lineout for Lutterworth worked well all afternoon with ball being won on the opposition throw as well. Scrums also were strong and with a number of strikes against the head being won showed that the Lutts unit was dominant. However an opportunist steal from the base of a ruck in the Lutts 22 allowed the opposition to score under the posts. This was converted.
The second half was much the same as the first with Lutterworth dominating the set piece and the mauls from the lineout allowed Lutts to make serious yards up field before releasing the backs to try and break the defence. The Lutterworth defence held up fantastically well all afternoon with the constant onslaught from the younger faster opposition.
The Loughborough final score game when an attempted try was held up and the resulting five metre scrum was won and the opposition used the ref and one of the posts to allow them to cross the line. This was also converted.
Final score 0 – 14 to Loughborough.
