2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 25th February 2006
South Leicester 2nd XV: 42pts V Lutterworth 2nd XV: 5pts
This game was the quarter final of the second team county cup and Lutterworth did not have a good day. They were missing a few of their regular players to illness and injury.
The game started well and Lutterworth were performing well and taking the game to South Leics. Lutterworth were awarded a couple of penalties but with the strong cross wind were not able to convert them. South got a lucky break and were able to breach the Lutts defence to score, but Lutts came straight back and an interception try from Shaun Van Herdon put Lutts back in the game. Just before half time South got another score putting them 13 – 5 up at half time.
The second half started well with Lutts winning the ball from the kick but they just kept getting turned over.
For some reason the flood gates just opened and South were able to get a further 5 tries and 2 conversions, but this was not a reflection on Lutts play the forwards powered forward and allowed the backs to run but South just had the ability to break the defence and also have the support.
