2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 19th November 2005
Coalville 2nd XV: 10pts V Lutterworth 2nd XV: 0pts
Last Saturday Lutterworth were drawn in the pool to visit Coalville for the second time this season.
Lutterworth were determined from the start to put on a good performance against a side in a higher division then them selves. From the kick off the Lutts side gave everything to the Coalville defence, who came back very strong.
For the entire first half the Lutts side held strong and had some prolonged periods of play deep in the Coalville half but were unable to breach the final line of defence to cross the line. Lutts won some quality ball from the well functioning lineout and the lines of running from the half backs kept the Coalville defence honest. On the stoke of half time Coalville were awarded a penalty right in front of the posts which was scored.
The second half was as well contested as the first and the Coalville side were getting rattled because the game was not going as they expected! they had a flanker sent off for constantly killing the ball and handling in a ruck and the
Coaville score came when they threw a long line out ball over the back that was gathered by the fly half to score. This was converted.
Lutterworth came close to scoring a couple of times, first opportunity was when Lutts had a rolling mauling charging up field and then the ball was passed out to prop, Langridge coming through at pace only to knock on and the second came when Lutts disrupted a Coalville lineout close to there line and the clearance kick was charged down by second row Brown and the ensuing chase by both the Lutts locks failed to get the ball down before it went dead.
The final score was 10 – 0 to Coalville.
