2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 18th February 2006
Leicester Forest 2nd XV: 16pts V Lutterworth 2nd XV: 3pts
Lutterworth should have and could have won this game. The Forest side was not particularly strong and territory and possession was all Lutterworth.
The game started extremely well and the Forest side were put on the back foot. Lutts won the scrums against the head. Play was taken deep into the Forest half and the pack looked like crossing the line when Forest was awarded a penalty. A mistake from the Lutts allowed Forest to gather the ball from the kick and score. It was converted. Lutts had a player sent to the bin for conversing with the ref and the Lutts side dug deep and were able to win the next ten minutes 3 – 0 when acting scrum half John Clarke slotted a penalty. Lutts tried in vain to get a score but could not cross the line.
In the second half was much the same as the first but this time very few of the refs decisions went in Lutts favour. They were trying just a little too hard to get a score. Forest had a further three penalties and each were converted taking the final score to 16 for the home side.
