2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 17th December 2005
Lutterworth 2nd XV: 46pts v Coalville 2nd XV: 5pts
Lutterworth were drawn in the pool for the last fixture before the Christmas break against Coalville. This would be the 3rd time the sides had met this season. Lutterworth wanted to avenge the last two defeats and they got off to a great start securing a lot of good ball and allowing the team to dominate in all aspects of play. The first of the scores came from a sniping run from scrum half Jezz Bell. Williams converted.
Lutterworth kept up a constant onslaught of pressure to allow Jezz Bell to score a further two tries in the half and also the ever present force of the prop Yannick to crash over for a score. This was also converted.
Half time score 24 – 0
The second half was much the same as the first with Lutterworth dominating scrum and lineout even though they lost a jumper due to an extensive injury to the nose of Adam Beasley. He was substituted by Adam Higgins. Jezz Bell scored another try after a superb linking run involving all the backs to score in the corner. Coalville were allowed to score after they put in a long kick that could not be chased down fast enough by Lutterworth. However Lutterworth wanted to finish the first half on the season with a flourish and scored three further tries from the dominant back combination of Williams, Kiddy and Lee Donovan. Only one of these scores was converted.
Lutterworth agreed to end game ten minutes early after a Coalville prop suffered head injury from a clash of body parts.
Final score Lutterworth 46 – Coalville 5.
