2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 12th November 2005
Lutterworth 2nd XV: 5pts v Leicester Forest 2nd XV: 17pts
Lutterworth welcomed local rivals last Saturday, for a hard fought game.
From the start the Lutterworth side worked hard to take the ball deep into the forest half, with some well worked moves between forwards and backs, on the edge of the twenty two metre line Lutts were awarded a penalty and opted to go for the posts. Unfortunately this did not go over.
Forest came back and to start with there line out functioned better than Lutterworth’s, after a line out and some swift passing the Forest side were able to exploit the overlap to score, this was not converted. Lutterworth came close to scoring after a quick penalty taken by Jezz Bell found Lee Tebbit who put a pass away to Jim Sercombe coming through at pace but unfortunately was knocked on just short of the line. Just before half time Forest repeated the earlier successful move and score a second, which again was not converted.
After half time Lutts made some changes and in a re-jigged pack Lutts were able to dominate the scrummage. Also some minor adjustment were made to the functioning of the line out made serious differences, Lutterworth won all there own ball and were able to provide the back line with some quick service to attack the defence full on.
Lutts scored their only try of the game from a breakdown that went the full width of the pitch and back again to Dan Sheasby coming at speed to touch down. This was not converted.
Forest scored their and final try from a controversial situation on the Lutts five metre line. This was converted.
Lutterworth came close to scoring two further tries but for one handling error and the other being a harsh call from the touch judge denied Lutts from increasing their point tally.
Final score Lutterworth -5 and Leicester Forest – 17.
