2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 10th September 2005
Coalville 2nd XV: 37pts V Lutterworth 2nd XV: 0pts
Lutterworth visited Coalville for a very had fought match.
With a few of the regulars away, some new faces were brought into the team. From the start the game was hard fought Lutterworth held the Coalville pack and put in some useful moves to keep them on their toes.
Some superb scavenging of the ball from the entire Lutterworth back row certainly made it hard for Coalville to get any kind of pattern. After 25 minutes the home side was to capitalise on a Lutterworth mistake and was able to recycle the ball and score in the corner. Lutterworth kept their heads up and kept working diligently. Lutts nearly scored when the hooker took the ball on and linked well with his brother on the inside only to be brought down near the line. Lutterworth had to make a replacement when their captain and No8 had to leave the field after a severe knock to head. Coalville scored a couple of quick tries close to half time and they were converted. 17 – 0 to Coalville.
The second half saw Lutterworth come back strong and with some great linking moves between forwards and backs but just were unable to cross the line, caused by their own misfortune and some infringements that the ref. was unable to see! The pace of the game was certainly taking its toll on the players with Lutterworth down to thirteen men for 10 minutes while players were receiving treatment. This was the point at which Coalville took the advantage and were able to score a couple of easy tries, one in each corner.
When one player was able to come back, the pack steadied again and was once again holding firm but the home side were able to get one last try in before the whistle. It was not converted and the final score was 37 – 0 to Coalville.
