2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 8th April 2006
Lutterworth 2nd XV: 7pts V Coalville 2nd XV: 12pts
Lutterworth had the sixth fixture this season against Coalville. So everybody knew what the afternoon was going to have in store for all concerned.
Lutterworth knew that Ville would come out hard and they were ready to soak up the pressure. The Lutts rucking and mauling was dominant all afternoon and they played the ball tight around the fringes to start with to try and break the Ville resolve but unfortunately it was the Lutts mistakes slowed things up. The first score was Coalville and they played the advantage from a breakdown and slipped a tackle to score. Lutts were able to gain a lot of territory but as usual not able to convert into points. They were camped on the Ville 5 metre line for a long time but unable to cross it. Half time score was 5 – 0 to Coalville.
The second half Lutts had the wind and were able to kick some great field position to take play deep into the Ville half, but it was Ville that got the next score after the ball was knocked on by Lutterworth and the advantage was played that allowed Ville to score. This was converted. Lutts were not out of the game though, after a well executed line out the ball was moved to the centres quickly and Ben Stretton was able to jinx and swerve through the defence unimpeded to score under the posts. Bell converted. Lutts kept the pressure on and came close on a couple of occasions but Coalville were able to hold on long enough to take the victory.
