Coalville  2nds 24pts  V  Lutterworth 2nds 11pts

Lutterworth got off to the worst possible start right from the kick off.  Coalville kicked the ball away from the defending pack which allowed them to get the upper hand.  Within a couple of minutes they had scored.  This was converted.Lutterworth gained some composure as the game wore on but unfortunate handling errors and with final passes not quite going to hand, allowed Coalville to punish by kicking deep into the Lutterworth half.  Slowly but surely Lutterworth started to put together good passages of play which resulted in a move upfield.  When in the opposition 22, a quick pick up and drive from the base of the scrum saw Lutterworth number 8, Mark Ellis, go over the line to score.  This was not converted.Again Lutterworth gradually started putting together good sequences of play to move back up field,  but again the odd handling error let Coalville come right back.  Right on the stroke of half time Lutterworth had a scrum on their own five-metre line, as the ball came out the scrum the Coalville scrum half stole the ball right out of Lutterworth hands to go over and score.  This was converted.  Half Time score 14 – 5 to Coalville.

In the second half Lutterworth worked hard to keep Coalville away from the try line.  There were some excellent breaks from Ivan Bills and Liegh Reed, while in the forwards, Steve Lamb and Adrian Sheasby as usual were making things awkward for the Coalville pack.  Lutterworth were awarded a couple of penalties within kicking range and Ivan Bills kicked another 6 points. As the clock ticked on it looked as if Lutterworth could force Coalville into making silly errors within kicking range.  Any penalty that was awarded to Lutterworth in the Coalville half was quickly taken by Captain, Ian Jones who powered his way through the defence to make serious yards.  Lutterworth nearly took the lead in the last 20 minutes when a kick from the base of the scrum was put through, there was a further chip and chase from Leigh Reed for the line only to be beaten by a Coalville defender.Play was then taken back to into the Lutterworth half and Coalville made a drive for the line when awarded a 5 metre scrum.  This was converted.

Minutes later Coalville were awarded another penalty which was converted and which made the final score Coalville 24, Lutterworth 11.
