2nd TEAM Match Report
Saturday 26th February 2005
Lutterworth 2nds 45pts V Leic Forest 2nds 0pts
This was a must win game for Lutterworth to take the top spot in the league, and they had to do better than the 5 all draw when the sides last met.
From the kick off Lutterworth gave one hundred percent and they knew early on that they would dominate the lineout and scrum situation. With in 10 minutes of the start Lutterworth had penalty awarded which was kicked by Bobby Williams. A few minutes later, after some textbook rucking Bobby Williams kicked his second penalty.Forest tried to come back after this but Lutterworth were having none of it and after some well run moves linking forwards and backs Bobby Williams went over to score the first try. The conversion missed. The second score came from a lineout move, the ball was quickly sent through all the backs hands for Williams to score in the corner. Again the conversion was missed. The third try came from a kick and chase by Dan Sheasby who gathered the ball only to be dragged down short of the line, but a quick pop ball to Williams allowed him to touch down. This was converted. Half time score 23 – 0
The second half was just as energetic as the first. The next Lut6terworth score came after some quick recycling of ball from the ruck situation and allowed Andrew Hall to go over the score Lutterworth’s forth try.Mid way through the second half Williams received a pass and after a jinx and step was through the defence and on his way to his forth try, only to be brought down by some excellent cover defence from Forest just short of the line, but following in support was flanker Steve Lamb to take the ball on and finish off the move to score. Williams converted. In the last few minutes of the game Forest tried to move the ball wide in their own half only to have the pass intercepted by Jim Croucher who ran in unopposed to score under the posts. Al Slater converted this. The final score 45 – 0 to Lutterworth.
