Lutterworth 2nds 29pts Kibworth 2nds 3pts V
Lutterworth welcomed local rivals Kibworth for a second time this season. The home side wanting to avenge their defeat when Kibworth last visited.
From the start Lutterworth came out the blocks a little slow but still retaining the ball. The ball was moved through forwards and back but the Lutterworth forwards seemed a fraction slow to the breakdown except for the flankers who worked hard to retain ball.20 minute in Kibworth was awarded a penalty for Lutterworth coming in to a ruck from the side. They converted this.
After the penalty Lutterworth seemed to wake up and get into the game. The forwards started to dominate up front with scrum and maul. The ball was moved to the backs and they cut open the defence, only to be stopped by good cover defence or a handling error. Just before half time though the forwards won ball deep in the Kibby 22 and the ball was passed through slick hands to the wing were full back Al Slater received the pass and ran in to score in the corner. This was not converted. Half time score 5 – 3.
The second half was all Lutterworth’s with forwards and backs working effortlessly together recycling quick ball. Duncan Carter crashed over from a lineout only to be held up, from the resulting scrum Lutterworth won against the head. The ball was sent out wide for Al Slater, he was stopped short of the line but quick work allowed Adrian Sheasby to cross the line with little opposition. This was converted.The next score followed quickly this time the other flanker Richard Jones went over to score. This was also converted.Kibworth had started to loose heart now and everything seemed to be coming Lutterworth’s way. Stealing lineout ball allowed Lutts to get their fourth score with Adrian Sheasby crashing over. This was not converted.
The Lutterworth final score came from Replacement wing Mark Barbour who jinxed and stepped through the defence to score late in the half. Final score 29 – 3 to Lutterworth.
