2nd TEAM   Match Report

Saturday 15th January 2005

Mkt Bosworth 10pts  V   Lutterworth 2nds 7pts

Lutterworth went to Bosworth with a strong team, to take on local rivals in their own back yard.  From past experiences Lutterworth knew it was going to be a physical afternoon.

Lutterworth started off very positively and took the game right too Bosworth, who are in the league above.  To start with the pressure was kept on but a few silly error meant that Bosworth were awarded a couple of penalties close to their posts.  Fortunately for Lutterworth these went wide of the mark.  Lutterworth had a man sent to the sin bin for alleged prescient infringement.  They defended well when down to 14 men and didn’t concede a point. There was some hard tackling from both sides and this kept play in the centre of the field for most of the first half.  Game went into half time with the scores at 0 – 0.

Lutterworth made a couple of substitutions and started the second half much like the first.  However Bosworth turned over ball in there own 22 and with some quick hands were able to get the ball to there centre who cut through the Lutterworth defence to score.  This was converted.Lutterworth returned play and the ball was passed to Dan Sheasby who came on as a replacement and scored in the corner on his first touch of the ball.  Bobby Williams converted to level the scores.Half way through the second half, some of the decisions went against Lutterworth and the side lost some of its composure.  Silly penalties were allowing Bosworth to gain control and move steadily up field.  One such incident happened and the decision went Lutterworth’s way but because of what happened in the preceding minutes, Lutterworth commented to the referee and he reversed his decision, allowing Bosworth to make a kick at goal, which was converted.

Lutterworth gradually regained themselves and started to take the game back to Bosworth, but never really threatened the Bosworth line, but defended their own gallantly.   In the final ten minutes one of the Lutterworth flankers was sent off for a minor disagreement in the ruck.  Again Lutterworth had to defend with only 14 but they held up to the pressure but unfortunately lost the game 10 – 7.
